Corrected minutes (June 18th, not June 17th). There were a number of papers related to model accuracy and parameter extraction. Papers are all available at http://www.eda.org/pub/ibis/summits/jun02. * Open Source IBIS Golden Parser At the Summit, the general feeling seemed to be against an Open Source parser, as reported by both Lynne Green and Bob Ross. However, member companies are welcome and encouraged to submit fixes; Matt Flora of HyperLynx (Innoveda/Mentor Graphics) has been recognized for doing this. There was also discussion of s2ibis, which is open source and needs an update. North Carolina State U did s2ibis2, and is interested in working on an s2ibis3. The earlier s2ibis3 project "died" because it was in conflict with a product produced by an IBIS Committee member company, which resulted in IBIS not funding the work. The Quality committee discussed ways to work within the IBIS committee. The possibilities include creating a PERL tool for data checking, = augmenting the parser or PERL tool to check for quality measures (including text). There is clear potential benefit to both the checklist and a tool to = check a model against the checklist. As this progresses, need to bring ideas to = the IBIS committee for further feedback. - Continue discussion on waveform rules * Bob Ross has verified that VMEAS was intended for drivers, and is ambiguous for receivers. BIRD 62.6 contains the keywords/subparameters to take care of this. * There are 10 BIRDS that have passed since IBIS 3.2 was passed in 1999. There was discussion of whether the IBIS quality checklist should = include these. Since IBIS 4 is expected out ahead of the checklist, it was = generally agreed that the IBIS 4 keywords/subparameters should be addressed in the checklist. Golden Waveforms and Receiver Thresholds were identified as key BIRDs. VIH/VIL was discussed next. Basic quality check can be made to see if VIH and VIL are between the Vcc and Vss voltages. Sources of the values should be documented (simulation, interface specification, etc.). = Checklist documentation should include how various voltage levels are typically = used by EDA tools for timing checks, ringback checks, etc. It was noted that IBIS 4 parameters may imply new quality levels in the checklist. It was suggested that there be a quality summary at the top of the IBIS file (such as the quality level for each buffer within the file). = TABLED to next meeting. AR (ALL): Review those accepted 10 BIRDs (62.6 - 73) for discussion at next meeting. Next meeting: Tuesday, July 2, 11 AM EST (8 AM PST).
